Craig Lewis, Executive Director
Craig Lewis is the Executive Director of the Clean Coalition, an organization focused on implementing best practices for scaling cost-effective clean, local energy that is available now, throughout the United States. Mr. Lewis is a leading Smart Energy strategist and advocate with over 20 years of experience in the renewables, wireless, and semiconductor industries. He has been working since 2005 to achieve Smart Energy outcomes via legislation, regulation, and public funding. Mr. Lewis spearheaded energy policy development for Steve Westly’s 2006 gubernatorial campaign in California and was VP of Government Relations for GreenVolts, a solar technology company before he founded the Clean Coalition in January 2009. He navigated the first successful solar project through California's Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) solicitation process and has been involved in more than two dozen RPS projects. Mr. Lewis has held senior government relations, corporate development, and marketing positions at wireless, semiconductor, and banking companies including Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Barclays. He received a MBA and MSEE from the University of Southern California, and a BSEE from UC Berkeley.
Ted Ko, Associate Executive Director
Ted Ko is a co-founder of the Clean Coalition and currently serves as the Associate Executive Director where he oversees policy development and strategy for both regulatory and legislative efforts. Mr. Ko is an tech-industry veteran with wide ranging experience from performing advanced research at a public utility to starting companies out of his living room. As a founding team member, he helped two startups through initial funding and one successful exit by acquisition. On a larger scale, he managed and launched new products for Yahoo, acquiring a specialty in global consumer Internet services. He received his BS and MS in Computer Science from MIT and an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School.
Stephanie Wang, Programs & Campaigns Director
Stephanie Wang serves as the Clean Coalition’s Director of Programs & Campaigns. She leads the production of the Local CLEAN Program Guide and the outreach and coordination efforts for the CLEAN California Campaign. Stephanie is an attorney with expertise in energy policy, project development and finance. Before joining the Clean Coalition, she advised Pacific Environment on California energy policy. For the six years prior, Stephanie was a project finance and development attorney with Cox Castle & Nicholson in San Francisco and Fried Frank in New York City. She earned her J.D. and B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Kenneth Sahm White, Economics & Policy Analysis Director
Sahm serves as the Clean Coalition’s Economics and Policy Analysis Director. Following his graduate work in the social studies of science and technology at MIT, Sahm has spent the past 15 years working in economic and environmental policy as Senior Research Consultant to the Center for Ecoliteracy, Technical and Policy Analyst in the development of the Ecological Footprint, and Associate Director of Progressive Secretary, a leading web source of legislative constituent engagement. In 2007, Sahm returned to school for an MS Environmental Studies from San Jose State University with a focus on economic optimization of local GHG reduction strategies, and joined the Clean Coalition in 2010 to help advance sustainable energy policy.
Tam Hunt, Policy Advisor
Tam Hunt serves as the Clean Coalition’s Policy Advisor and Attorney. He is a renewable energy law and policy expert with substantial experience in California, on local energy planning and on state policy. Tam contributes substantially to state policy, in Sacramento at the Legislature and, in particular, in San Francisco at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), in various proceedings related to renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change. He is also well versed in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) affairs. Tam is a Lecturer in Climate Change Law and Policy at UC Santa Barbara’s Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. Tam was the lead author of the Community Environmental Council's A New Energy Direction, a blueprint for Santa Barbara County to wean itself from fossil fuels by 2030. He received his law degree from the UCLA School of Law in 2001, where he was managing director of the Journal for International Law and Foreign Affairs. Tam is frequently featured in media pieces on energy policy matters.
Rob Longnecker, Program Manager
Rob Longnecker serves as a Clean Coalition Program Manager. Rob has 10+ years of experience analyzing and investing in companies in a wide array of industries. Through his experience is as an investor in the traditional energy world, he became interested in renewables and the opportunity to positively impact the world through intelligent energy policies. Rob received his BA in Economics from Cornell University.
Rebecca Davis, Program Manager
Becky Davis serves as a Program Manager for the Clean Coalition, assisting in multiple areas. She is an attorney with three years of experience working in the environmental law field for groups including Earthjustice and the Environmental Law Foundation. Before moving to the Bay Area, Becky worked for a year and a half at a plaintiffs’ class action law firm where she helped protect consumers’ rights. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2010, where she received a Certificate in Environmental and Energy Law. Becky received her BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon.
John Bernhardt, Operations and Communications Manager
John serves as Manager of Operations and Communications for the Clean Coalition. He has over 3 years of non-profit communication and program management experience with two Bay Area non-profit organizations. John worked as a senior educator and program manager for the Alliance for Climate Education and then as support director for 2,655 mile ultra-endurance charity event organized by Run While You Can. John received his BA in Environmental Thought and Practice from the University of Virginia in 2008.
Johnathon Fata, Associate
Johnathon serves as an Associate assisting in multiple areas for the Clean Coalition. Johnathon graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 with a B.S. in Environmental Science. He is currently pursuing a M.S. in Environmental Studies at San Jose State University where his research focus is on renewable energy development in agriculture.
Gary Pett, Associate
Gary serves as an associate for the Clean Coalition. He focuses on policy implementation throughout the U.S. He is a recent graduate of DePauw University, where he studied Political Science. During college, Gary spent significant time advocating several policy positions at the Indiana Statehouse with the DePauw Environmental Policy Project (DEPP). He wrote his senior thesis on the political atmosphere needed to pass comprehensive federal climate legislation.
Shaunt Attarian, Associate
Shaunt Attarian serves as a communications associate for the Clean Coalition. Shaunt is currently enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, and is pursuing degrees in Political Economy and Cognitive Science. At Berkeley, Shaunt worked as a staff reporter for the Daily Californian, the campus' student newspaper, and is involved in philanthropy efforts for his fraternity. His prior work includes a marketing role for a student start-up and experience working on local and national political campaigns.
Joshua LaForge, IT Solutions Advisor
Joshua LaForge serves as the Clean Coalition’s IT Solutions Advisor. He was part of the initial group who launched the organization in 2009. Joshua is an engineering PhD student at the University of Alberta. His research is focused on the development of low-cost materials for photovoltaic power generation. Mr. LaForge also holds an MSc in Physics from the University of Victoria.
